Hey, everyone, I know it's been a while, but I had a hard time coming up with topics the last two months and have been more focused on writing my prose poems than writing about games for the most part, which is a good thing. At any rate, I wanted to do a bit of a retrospective on my gaming year in 2021 with some stats. First, though, I'd like to give a shoutout to Boardgamegeek as the primary mechanism by which I track my plays, keep track of my collection, and find images for this blog. First, on to the stats. 2021 was my first time tracking plays on BGG, and I think the results are rather interesting.
Total Games Played: 489 (41/month average) Wow, that's a lot. Buoyed a bit by my September play count, which was 72 games! There was a bit of a dip after we had our second child in March, April, and May, but things picked back up again in June. I should also note that this number includes games played solo, multiplayer, on the table, and digitally. Number of Unique Games Played: 76 I own 89 board games in total and got to play a vast majority of them at least once this year, which is a lot more than a lot of other collectors can say. Top 10 Most Played: The Lord of the Rings: The Card Game - 34 Roll for the Galaxy - 30 Twice as Clever! - 28 Wingspan - 27 Fleet: The Dice Game - 24 That's Pretty Clever! - 22 The Castles of Burgundy - 19 Orchard: A 9 Card Solitaire Game - 19 Cascadia - 16 Space Base - 14 New Games Acquired: 32 If you've been following the blog at all, this list really should come as no surprise, as many of these were either in my Top 25 or in my honorable mentions for the Top 25. But I will say that this list has caused me to re-evaluate some of my Top 25, and there might be a dramatic shift coming next year when I do the list. That's all for today, everyone. Thanks for reading. Credit: All images come from Boardgamegeek
